駅Ekiben — Travel Japanese

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 13, 2026

Ekiben is built to work without knowing who you are. This policy explains the little data we handle and why.

No account

There is no sign-up or login. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other contact details, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).

Device ID

The app creates a random identifier on your device and stores it in the iOS Keychain. It is sent with requests to our server so we can keep your AI Talk quota, link your purchases, and count active devices. It is not linked to your identity.

Analytics

The app sends anonymous product events (for example "lesson completed" or "paywall viewed") tied to the device ID. We use them only to improve the app. We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or track you across other apps or websites. Our server does not store your IP address; it keeps only the country reported by our hosting provider. Events are deleted after 180 days.

AI Talk

When you use AI Talk, the messages you type or speak are sent to our server and processed by DeepSeek, an AI provider based in China, to generate the conversation partner's replies and coaching; your messages may be processed on servers in the People's Republic of China. Please don't share personal information in AI Talk. Conversation transcripts are kept for 30 days for quality checks and abuse prevention, then deleted automatically.

Feedback

If you report an issue with a phrase, we store the report (type, the content item, your optional note and app version) with the device ID so we can fix the content.

Purchases

Payments are handled entirely by Apple. To unlock the Ekiben Pass, the app sends Apple's signed transaction records to our server, which verifies them and remembers which devices use a purchase (up to 5 per purchase). We never see your payment details or Apple ID.

Speech and learning progress

Speech recognition for speaking exercises runs on your device. Your learning progress, trip details and "My Cards" (allergy and address cards) are stored only on your device.

Deleting your data

Open Me › Settings › Delete my data in the app. This erases your local progress and deletes the data our server stores for your device ID (events, feedback, AI transcripts, usage counts and purchase links). To prevent abuse, we keep a minimal record that the free AI trial was used (only the device ID and the time it was used). So that requests still in progress at that moment can't re-create deleted data, we also keep a deletion marker (only the device ID and the deletion time) for 24 hours. Uninstalling the app removes local data but not server data, so use "Delete my data" first.

Children

Ekiben is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
